This refers to virtual pet games which look and play similarly to Pou, involving simulated care for a virtual creature by feeding it, cleaning it, and putting it to sleep. Usually, these games have a similar UI and minigame mechanic system to Pou, and in-game currency can be used to customize and acquire the pet's needs.

Available games

Bou (Inlogic Games)

This version of Bou is only played for older J2ME/Java phones. Execpt it has no minigames to free up space for the game.[citation needed]

Bou (Kanuni Games)

Bou : Virtual Pet is one of many unrelated games that bear the same name. In the version created by Kanuni Games, the player takes care of a large creature that resembles an orange. The game is infamous for its rushed coding, low budget graphics, and the fact that Bou's mouth sometimes turns into a realistic art style.[1]

Frojo Apps

Frojo Apps is a mobile app developer based in Uppsala, Sweden, known for creating virtual pet games for iOS and Android. Moy, a purple alien that resembles an octopus, serves as the company's mascot, appearing in seven mainline pet games, and numerous spinoffs. Frojo Apps also made similar games including Loy (a blue boomerang-shaped character), Joy (a light green character with arms), Meep (a blue character with arms), and other games starring a variety of other animals like chickens, dogs, bears and cats.

Before Frojo Apps was formed, the CEO of the company, Fredrik Röstlund, worked for a now-defunct app company called Nealo Inc. One of the games created by that company is My Virtual Pet Care[2], and the premise of the game is to take care of a square magenta character which resembles Mou. The game bears many similarities to the first Moy game such as the reused sound effects and the general layout of the game.

Much like Pou, Moy and the other Frojo Apps games also have bootleg games and clones, a list of which can be found here.

Lou The Slime

Lou The Slime is a 3D virtual pet game developed by Indonesian YouTuber Andy Lukito, and published by Akhir Pekan Studio[3], featuring a light blue slime character. The main character was originally supposed to be Pou themself[4], and the game was originally going to be a 3D remake of Pou. This was changed later in development to avoid copyright infringement by Zakeh.

My Boo

My Boo - Virtual Pet Simulator, simply known as My Boo, is a mobile virtual pet game by the Brazilian app company Tapps Games. The player takes care of a blue ball-shaped character named Boo, and the gameplay is similar to Pou. There is also a 3D sequel to the game called My Boo 2, which was developed by the Portuguese branch of the company.

Much like Pou, My Boo also has bootleg games and clones, which can be found here.

My Chu

My Chu is a series of two virtual pet apps created by Latvian digital artist Apofiss. Chu has a similar appearance and name to My Boo, however, the virtual pet character is green instead of blue. The player must collect bunnies and stickers which are randomly given in order to access certain items, which is a unique feature. Bubble, a small pink character (in older versions, a light blue character named Fairy Puff) who frequently interacts with the player's Chu, debuts in the game's sequel, My Chu 2.

The character originated as a live wallpaper for desktop and Android devices, which in turn is based on a digital artwork by the creator.[5] The live wallpaper also came with a companion app which rewards the player with items after playing minigames. Bubble and Fairy Puff also originated this way.

My Virtual Tooth

My Virtual Tooth - Virtual Pet is a mobile virtual pet game created by Peaksel Games to teach children about practicing good oral hygiene. The players take care of a sentient tooth called Dee, however, taking care of it is similar to taking care of a Pou. The player may also brush the tooth with a giant toothbrush, similar to giving Pou a bath.

Pau (EATTAP Studios)

Pau is a mobile virtual pet game featuring a blue character with purple hair. The game is known for its short gameplay, having no coins, minigames, decorations clothes, and other things not used.[citation needed]

Potaty 3D

Potaty 3D (commonly referred to by some players as Pou 3D) is a series of 3D virtual Android pet games starring a cartoon potato. The game is notorious for its unusual 3D designs and shading, unsuitable music for young players, incorrect grammar, and Potaty's more frequent pooping than Pou. The game has various spin-offs including Potaty 3D Free, Potaty 3D Classic, Potaty 2D, Potaty City, Potaty City 2, Potato, Potaty Racing 3D, Potaty Santa Claus, Potaty vs. Poo, Prawda czy Ściema (True or False), and Where is my Potaty?

The same company also released two games featuring Azzy, a similar-looking character colored lavender. Azzy 1 is copied from Potato, while Azzy 2 is copied from Potaty 3D FREE and Potaty City 2. There also exists a Minion version of the game called Timons City.[6]

Tupek

Tupek is an Android virtual pet game created by Polish game developer Gear-Studio. The game involves the player taking care of Tupek, a yellow round virtual pet with round hands and feet. Much of the game takes place near a farm, as evidenced by the abundance of cows, fences, and fruit stalls. Navigating Tupek involves pulling the rug on the floor from left to right, resulting in Tupek following it. Tupek, which was published in April 2013, is among the earliest virtual pet games to be based on Pou, as it was released eight months after Pou's launch. The game can be downloaded here.

Ivi - Virtual Pet

Ivi - Virtual pet was a mobile virtual pet created by Cumplibits. The game features a hot pink character in which the player must take care of. It is unknown why the game has been delisted from Google Play.[citation needed]

Mou

Mou was a game created by hungrymousegames, intended as an unofficial Pou port for Windows Phone and Windows devices. The player character resembles Pou as a baby, but with an oval body. It remains that way even until adulthood. Unlike Pou, there are only four rooms instead of six, as the Hall and the Bathroom are missing much like older versions of Pou. The game noticeably lacked background music, and there were fewer minigames with different names. The game was available to download on the Windows/Microsoft Store, however, it was removed in 2024.
